Why We Do This!

At Poetic Justus Studios, our mission is to engage hearts, educate minds, and empower voices through stories that reflect the rhythm and resilience of kids everywhere.

What began as a father’s effort to help his son learn to read has grown into a movement to close literacy gaps for all children — especially those whose families work long hours, face language barriers, or lack access to resources that make learning possible at home.

We’re building bridges between culture, creativity, and education through an innovative approach that fuses hip-hop storytelling, embedded vocabulary lessons, and multi-generational glossaries that help families understand each other’s language. Our interactive learning tools turn test prep into play, while our characters speak the way real kids speak — teaching academic skills through authenticity and rhythm.

Across the U.S., too many students are being left behind. According to The Nation’s Report Card, only about one in three fourth graders read at a proficient level. For children in multilingual households, language differences can make reading comprehension even more challenging. That’s why we designed a literacy system that honors both home and school language, transforming potential barriers into bridges.
